Drive For Show and Putt For Dough..and Learn Your Wedge

Rudy's drives were awesome, and he rolled in some long putts as well. The difference was in the wedge work over the course of 18 holes. As seen on the scorecard (still not as low as either once was or should be), there was a five stroke difference in our latest golf outing at Davis' Wildhorse Golf Course. 92-97

Rudy made a charge on the front after starting the round 10 over after the first 4 holes. He finished the side two over over the next five for a front side 48. He had an array of monsterous drives that helped his rally.

Meanwhile on the back nine, he lost his control and his temper with his wedge. A wedge that early in the round, he discussed the possibility of a trade with our friend and playing partner Andy Meggers. I, on the otherhand, try to stay consistent throughout the round. Relatively short drives, decent approaches, and trying not to screw it up with the putter which lead to a 44 on the back.

Total Putts

Rudy- 31
Armando- 35

Other Notes
One stroke separated all four players on the front nine. Andy Meggers shot a 47, while John (my father in law), Rudy, and I shot 48. Rudy's score may have been affected (positively or negatively) by the influence of a hot dog pre round and one at the turn. Trying to raise funding for a medical study on "Nitrates and the affects on the Golf game."

Had fun!

First Times In The Snow

On Tuesday, Mia and I took Avery up to the snow for her first time. It wasn't all what we expected, but she sure did love playing in it. I also added a pic of "Lola" and me, on probably our first snow trip.

* Note.. As you can see, the snow was limited and so was the size of our snowman! Intown.

Newly Scanned Photos for Your Enjoyment

#1 Lola and Me in front of our house before my senior prom. This was about 2-3 weeks after the car accident in the old Festiva, which took a chunk of my hair out. In the back, you can see Julie with David; he was probably about 2 months old.

#2 here is a picture of Papa when he was in the Air Force. He could probably add more information about this picture.

#3 Here is a pic of David and Jacob. They were probably in the 2 1/2 or 3 range here. I remember when Jacob used to wash his dishes in Mama and Papa's fountain. Bob Thornson and I were just talking about the all of the old memories in that house. We also discussed the rescheduling of the "Family Reunion" for the end of April or Mid May 2006.

Random Pics That I Scanned

Here are a few pics that I found in one of my folders. This picture of Jacob and Ryan was taking at the rehearsal dinner of Fernando and Lesley. Boy, time flies. The one of Avery and Mully was just a few days ago while we were hanging out at home. i had to pay Mully in Cat Snacks to pose for these pics.

I hope to see that some of you start participating in the blog. Have a great day!

Rudy Beats Mando In Score and In Skins

A last minute effort to play golf, turned costly for Mando as the visible rust proves to affect the normally flawless and effortless swing. We only play 25 cents per skin, but Rudy beat me 20 skins to 16. A total of a $1.00. As you can see with the scorecard, he also had the best score. Rudy posted a 91 while I posted a 103. Yikes.

A Thursday @ the Lena's

Most every Thursday, Avery gets a chance to go to Janice and Nicos' house to hang out with them and Lolo and Lola. She looks forward to going every week. In the beginning however, whenever you would ask her what her and Nico did that day, she would say, "Nico Pull Shirt" while mimmicking it on her own shirt.

Happy 2006!

We had a great time at Rudy and Risa's for New Year's Eve. Risa put on a spread that would put Murillo's out of business. We played poker(Papa, Steve, Mando, Rudy, Risa, and Jacob) up until 11:50pm, as Papa cleaned us all out. (Rudy was the big loser, he had to bring out the change jar and do multiple buy ins) The kids ran around and played until very late. RJ and Natalie went down about 10:30, but Jacob, Ryan, Ally, and Avery stayed up all of the way until the ball dropped.

Everybody was dressed well, except Mando. Mama said, "Mia, you are all dressed up and Armando... why do you look like you are going to the mall?"

Welcome in 2006! Great times had and even more ahead!
