We got a chance to get away from the smoke and high heat to coast and 65 degree fresh air. Coming into town, we experienced a lightning display, that most likely ignited some of the fires in Big Sur and then the rain came down in big ol' drops.
Our first day was a relaxing day. We got our groceries for the week, tooled around in a golf store, and walked the wharf after a night of take out PF Changs. The girls ran around after they got their fill of taffy and ice cream. What great parents we are.
The second day we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was my first time there and I was fully amazed by the exhibits. We didn't even get a chance to look at everything..you know..3 and 4 year olds have an expiration time for these things. From Sea otters to the Big Tunas, I always find sea life amazing. I am glad we are able to expose Avery to these things and hopefully it will stimulate the explorer in her.
We ended the day with a spaghetti dinner at home and hung out at the house. The adults seemed like "rest" is what the doctor ordered. It was nice to have a getaway where we were not tied to a strict schedule or, even better, going back and forth, talking about what we should do next.
